What is Pidgin?

Pidgin is a multi-protocol Instant Messaging client that allows you to use all of your IM accounts at once.

Pidgin works with:

  • AIM
  • Bonjour
  • Gadu-Gadu
  • Google Talk
  • Groupwise
  • ICQ
  • IRC
  • MSN
  • QQ
  • SILC
  • SIMPLE
  • Sametime
  • XMPP
  • Yahoo!
  • Zephyr

Hm, so they finally released it? I only use Jabber, so I don’t really need a multi-protocol client. I’m currently using Gajim. But I think I’ll still give pidgin a try to see how well it handles Jabber. Back in the days when it was still called Gaim it had a tendency to annoy me (including the 2.0betas).

I really wish I could find a Jabber client that is as good as irssi is for IRC. *sigh*
